We asked Eva McMahon to design the perfect Mother’s Day outing in Connaught Village and she delivered the goods. Whether you are a mother yourself or would like to spoil someone special, we can ensure you and your guest will come away from the day feeling thoroughly pampered.
How would you spend the perfect day with your mother, who always deserves to be treated like a queen? Read on to find out…
In the early afternoon take a trip to the charming Connaught Village, only a few steps away from Marble Arch station. I had visited this place before for dinner at Argentinian steakhouse, Casa Malevo – mind blowing by the way – but this is the first time that I saw the village in the daylight and it is very cute. So many charming corners, boutiques, cafes and a lot more to offer.
Begin your perfect Mother’s Day with a visit to a specialist wine shop called Connaught Cellars, possibly my favourite part of the day. Spend an amazing hour wine tasting and learning more about red wine, and pairing delicious cheese from Buchanans Cheesemonger, also in Connaught Village. This place also provides private tasting in their gorgeous downstairs room and you can get some outstanding Italian and French wines. Expect to meet the cutest dog in the world while you are there.
Merry with big smiles and even bigger appetites we chose Bombay Palace for a late lunch. My friend Margita is a vegetarian and this Indian has lots of exciting veggie options. I went for a curry I have never tried and loved it. We had a lovely chat over good food and simply enjoyed our time in the restaurant’s relaxing surroundings. Definitely worth a visit for a special lunch.
After all the feasting, it is time for a spot of retail therapy. I fell in love with a multi-branded designer store called The Place London for women. The boutique is full of great finds, stocking up on lesser-known designers as well as well-known brands like Launer, Charlotte Simone and other great pieces. Most items you find here come with an inspiring story. If you appreciate handmade and unique pieces you have to come here and you will not regret it.
It would not be the ultimate girly day without a stop at the local hairstylist for a blow dry. You must pay a visit to the hair and beauty salon, Fé Hair and Beauty. I think blow dries are a treat for any woman. They save so much stress and you leave the salon with bouncy, fresh hair. The salon’s interior is design-led and just steps away from all the places we have visited so far which is ideal. That is the beauty of Connaught Village in general. Everything is so close and it is full of interesting independent businesses.
What would be a great bouncy blow dry without glowing skin? With this in mind, we went to the Medicetics flagship spa salon located on Connaught Street. I went for the specialist Laser Genesis treatment that gives you that fresh look and glowing skin. The treatment takes around 30 minutes and immediately delivers results and boosts your collagen. I left with glowing skin and didn’t feel the need to re-apply makeup that the therapist had taken off before the treatment. The salon staff were very professional welcoming and it is such a good idea to include it in a girly day with your mum or friend.
Our day finished in style in perhaps one of the most instagrammable coffee shops in London – Saint Aymes. It is a bloggers dream thanks to its decor and it is a great place for somebody with a sweet tooth. Luxury chocolates and cakes are decorated with 23-carat edible gold and I even found it in my blue ‘Unicorn Latte’. Yes, you are reading correctly, I said ‘Unicorn Latte’.
Such a luxurious spot set up by two sisters that put so much effort into every single detail and the service was absolutely outstanding. I love discovering places like this and have a feeling this is going to be an Instagram hit.
It was such a great place to finish our perfect day in Connaught Village and would be an incredible treat for your mother on upcoming Mother’s Day. Or perhaps any other day.
