It’s Raclette Season

If you’re wishing you were skiing somewhere snowy or just craving comfort food, why not have a mini Raclette party at home?

Buchanans Cheesemongers have everything you need for a quick and delicious, warming meal: potatoes, cornichons, charcuterie, pickled onions – and of course the finest Swiss Raclette which they can slice for you ready to pop in the pans of your Raclette grill.

If you don’t have a Raclette machine you can always melt the cheese slices under the grill in your oven too. Or even make an alpine-inspired cheese toasty with raclette, salami and cornichons.

Did you know?

Raclette is traditionally made in Spring and Autumn before and after the cows are taken up to the highest mountain pastures during the Summer months. During the Summer larger cheeses like Beaufort are made, when the cows’ milk is plentiful and the animals are feeding on lush pastures. During the shoulder seasons the herd produces less milk and so smaller cheeses like Raclette are made, and matured for 3 or 4 months before eating.
