Connaught Summer Festival 2016

This summer, Connaught Village returns with a better-than-ever summer festival on 22 June from 2pm – 8pm. See the line-up of unmissable entertainment and activities below.

Live Music at the Band Stand

The festival will open at 2pm with a marching brass band

Catch Roo Savill will be singing live at 3pm

Listen to beautiful opera from Alistair Sutherland at 6pm

Expertly judged and kindly sponsored by some of Connaught Village’s leading art experts including The Park GalleryBourlet FramesThe Rosewood Gallery and Indar Pasricha Fine Arts. From 2-6pm, stop by boutique De Roemer for trend talks from the designers

Attend a free Cheese and Wine Pairing masterclass at Buchanans Cheesemongers at 3.30, 4.30 & 5.30pm

Discover how Mud Australia’s finest pottery is made with slipware demos in store throughout the day

Master the art of mixology with a free cocktail mixing masterclass at Japanese restaurant Kurobuta at 3, 4 & 5pm. First come first served, so get there early!

Don’t miss beautiful floristry demos at florists Prewett Miller throughout the day

Learn the craft of embroidery at workshops held throughout the day at luxe fashion boutique The Place

Discover the art of picture frame guilding and carving, with demos taking place throughout the day at Bourlet

Take your watch, learn about waterproofing and check to see if yours is waterproof at jewellers William Mansell

For Fashionistas

Raise a glass (complimentary of course) to celebrate 30 years of business at second-hand designer boutique The Dresser

Japanese inspired womenswear Kokoro, shoe designer Lucy Choi and luxe bridal designer Eliza Jane Howell will also have fashion stands around the village

Meet jewellery designer Tobia Cassandro at Kokoro, who for one day only, will be offering a bespoke engraving and personalisation service on Cassandro bracelets. Also, the incredible Irezumi Painted Leather artist, Gina Mcquen will be showcasing her painted leather work and offering a bespoke service too

From 3pm, enjoy complimentary chocolate hazelnut brownies and lemon poppyseed cakes on Connaught Street

Check out Italian Stuzzico’s street food stand serving fried calamari and prawns

Japanese Kurobuta will be hosting an outdoor Japanese barbecue with tasty cocktails served on the side

Enjoy Cocomaya Bakery’s famous cakes alfresco style in front of their bakery

Hyde Park Veterinary Centre’s Dog Show

Everyone’s favourite – The Hyde Park Vet’s Dog Show returns to the Summer Festival, held from 4-6pm. Classes include The Best Puppy, The Dog with the Best Trick and the classic The Dog with the Best Fancy Dress. Pick up a form from the Hyde Park Vet Centre and submit by Mon 20 June. £5 per entry, with all proceeds going to ‘Support Dogs’. The first 50 entry forms submitted are guaranteed a goody bag.

You can also enter ‘The Best Dressed Dog’ class via Instagram for the chance to win £100 to spend at Hyde Park Vet Centre. To enter post a photo of your dog looking their best on Instagram tagging @ConnaughtVillage #SummerFestival & #InstaBestDressedDog by 4pm on Wed 22 June. The winner will be announced on the Band Stand at 6pm on the day.
